After pictures of Paul Ryan meeting with former President Barack Obama surfaced just hours after the Republican health care bill was pronounced dead on the table in the House of Representatives, Trey Gowdy (R-South Carolina) called on him to answer some questions off the record. According to Gowdy’s top aide, Mandy Gonsales, Ryan was less than willing to cooperate:
“He told me to tell Mr. Gowdy to go f*ck himself. He said he’s the Speaker of the House and that he doesn’t answer to anyone.”
Gowdy didn’t take that news well. Rather than confront Ryan and get into some power struggle, Gowdy instead reminded Ryan that he does, in fact, answer to the American people and that the committee he chairs, The House Committee On Investigations And Political Posturing, is the voice of those people. Gowdy may not have authority over Paul Ryan, but he can call him as a witness.
Not only that, but Gowdy has added him to the committee’s “hostile witness” list, meaning he can grill him a little bit harder on matters of national security. Since Ryan is suspected of being a part of Obama’s Deep State shadow government, his actions could be considered treason. VIA
