It’s no secret that when it comes to debilitating conditions, Parkinson’s disease is among the worst.
Source| The diagnosis of this condition is particularly devastating, since the prognosis is typically bleak. There’s one procedure, however, that has been proven to help patients deal with their symptoms. It’s known as deep brain stimulation (DBS). Doctors treat the tremors, rigidity, and shakiness associated with Parkinson’s disease by implanting neurostimulators that activate the parts of the brain that control movement.
This is Andrew Johnson. He suffers from Parkinson’s disease, and his tremors once made it impossible for him to go about daily life.
And if he didn’t get help, his symptoms would have only become more severe over time.
After the DBS procedure, however, he regained control of his movements. The tremors essentially disappeared.
